"Back to the Basics"... We want to Play, learn sportsmanship and have Fun. Winning is Good too!

.)    Hit the ball and run to first base with your eves fixed on the bag. Don’t stop or slow down until you hit the 1st base coach’s hand about a foot past the base.

.)    Pop Fly: Our runners will run about half way to the next base, if the ball is caught run hard right back to the base you left. A dropped ball means you finish your run to the next base and always run within the base line.

.)    Return ball to pitcher:   Don’t try to force plays and risk overthrows, just return the ball to the pitcher. Infielders are not allowed to block runners from staying in the base line. Our job is to focus on the batter!

.)    Outfield relay:  We need more practice with returns from the out fielders to the closest infielder and/or pitcher. Keep the fielders informed to cut off, stop and prevent the runner from stealing.

.)    Run Downs: Try not to throw the ball during a run down ie 1St & 2nd each baseman each get closer squeezing the runner, then tag without throwing to the other close baseman of possible for the out. Try squeezing the runner between 2 bases before risking a throw.

.) Field Positions: Each player returns to his last field position... Pitcher and Catcher substitutes are assigned first, then bench substitutes will relieve any other positions, However, If you need to rest on the bench just let me know.

.) Overthrows: Overthrows are common with the excitement, when Stealing begins this week. It's worth taking an extra second to prevent overthrows and keep a runner from scoring. Focus on the glove of the base man you are throwing to, try to be accurate,  and remember when in doubt throw it to the pitcher!

.) Stealing is allowed: if the ball is within the lines at home plate. example if the catcher drops the ball and it stays within the lines anyone on base can steal, However, if the ball hits the fence or is outside the home plate lines... No Stealing.
